Michael Weinhold has held the position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Siemens Smart Infrastructure since April 2019. He heads the Technology and Innovation department and deals with leading-edge technologies in the fields of power grids, intelligent buildings and using digitalization to interconnect them. His area of responsibility also includes data analysis and artificial intelligence, as well as power electronics and network security.
As CTO, he also used to be responsible for technology developments in the Energy Management Division, until 2014 in the Energy Sector and from 2004 to 2008 in Power Transmission and Distribution.
After leaving university, he joined Siemens AG and began his career as a system planning engineer and commissioning engineer for high-voltage systems. Siemens named him "Inventor of the Year" in 1997 and "Top Innovator" in 2008.
Michael Weinhold was born on February 2, 1964 in Rüsselsheim, studied Electrical Engineering from 1983 to 1988 at the Ruhr University and obtained his doctorate degree at the "Faculty of Power Generation and Applications".
Mr. Weinhold has been an executive board member of the German industry association Bitcom since 2019 and assistant lecturer at the Danish Technical University since 2011.
