Garrett is an experienced projects and infrastructure partner with particular expertise in the acquisition, financing and development of infrastructure and energy projects. He is a dual qualified lawyer (England & Wales and Ireland). Garrett has consistently been one of the most active projects lawyers in Ireland having advised on and closed multiple diverse financings and investments in transport, light rail, social housing, renewables and conventional power generation. Garrett has worked on several "pathfinder" transactions within the Irish projects sector including waste to energy, social housing and solar. Garrett has advised on and closed in excess of €2.5bn project financings with 800MW+ of onshore wind financings. Garrett has lead and worked on a significant number of renewables financings in Ireland and internationally.
Garrett spent the first decade of his career in London with leading international law firms, which also included secondments to an investment bank and large US power company. This extensive in-house energy experience provided a firm grounding for the drafting of bespoke commercial contracts for a wide variety of assets, commodities and commercial arrangements. Garrett has acted for EBRD, EIB, Export Credit Insurance bodies and Governments on cross border project financings in Poland, Belarus, Estonia, Chile and South Africa. Garrett has extensive experience in several inter related disciplines including energy, project finance, M&A, fund structures (including regulated and unregulated structures) and private equity and has advised on the development and financing of a variety of projects including conventional and renewable energy projects (including coal, gas, oil shale, biomass, CHP, wind and hydro projects), commodities and carbon trading, financings (bank and debt capital markets) and M&A transactions throughout Europe.
Garrett has extensive experience in several inter related disciplines including energy, project finance, M&A, fund structures (including regulated and unregulated structures) and private equity and has advised on the development and financing of a variety of projects throughout Europe. Garrett lectured in Dublin City University on a masters degree in renewables financing. Garrett is recognised as a leading lawyer in projects, power and project finance including IFLR 1000, Chambers and Legal 500.
