
Benoit Esnault
Benoît Esnault is head the Interconnections and European Networks Department at the National Regulatory Authority of France (CRE) that he joined in 2008. His international commitments include Vice-Chair of the Gas Working Group of the Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER) and chairman of the electricity working group of Mediterranean Energy Regulators’ Association (MEDREG). He is responsible for gas and electricity interconnections and has been involved in European negotiations on the third legislative package and the TEN-E guidelines. Previously, he was senior economist at the Observatoire Méditerranéen de l’Energie (OME) for 6 years and was post doc researcher at the Paris Dauphine University. Benoît holds a PhD in economics and teaches energy economics and regulation in several French universities.
