Efficient management of network models and of renewables interconnections with an Electrical Digital TwinSession
As grid planning and operations are becoming more complex, manual practices for sharing model data across utility systems are no longer suitable. In many utilities, several systems work in silos with their own data format, details, and teams of experts maintaining the data. To increase efficiency in data management and design, an Electrical Digital Twin introduces a single source of truth for grid model data like network configurations or substation equipment. By bringing together data and tools across different domains, the Electrical Digital Twin also enables advanced analysis use cases like the automated handling of renewables interconnection requests. In light of increasing PV, EV and battery penetration Siemens and Bentley Systems have joined forces for this real-life use case, and created an offering based on a bundling of Siemens’ PSS®SINCAL and Bentley’s OpenUtilities. In this presentation we will give an introduction to the Electrical Digital Twin concept, and highlight applications in both efficient data management and advanced analysis.
