GOPACS - Mitigating congestion by using flexible power from the marketSession
The energy transition and economic growth require capacity increase of the electricity grid. Making use of flexible power from the market can contribute to solving (expected) congestion in the electricity grid. This is where the new GOPACS platform comes in. Grid operators Liander (part of Alliander) TenneT, Stedin, Enexis Groep and Westland Infra have developed GOPACS. GOPACS is an important step to mitigate congestion (capacity shortages) in the electricity grid and an important tool in keeping the Dutch grid reliable and affordable. Gopacs is unique for cooperation between TSOs and DSOs, the launch of the GOPACS platform was earlier this year.
