Energy union requires data unionSession
One of the pillars of European energy policy is market integration, both wholesale and retail. However, a key barrier to integrating our retail markets is lack of interoperability of meter data. The Clean Energy Package requires each Member State to sort out data management within their borders, but we see that we should already take a step further and bridge together our data systems on a continental scale. Only in this way, by creating a single Data Union can we remove market barriers and accelerate the sustainable energy transition. Organisations handling personal energy data should have a clear strategy for data access, since consumers own their data.
