Talk Community Interview Siemens: Sabine Erlinghagen & Robert Klaffus
What does Siemens see as the biggest opportunity for the smart energy industry?
As our cities grow, our technology develops and our need for energy increases, we are putting greater pressure on that environment and our future. Existing infrastructure limits our ability to be flexible and efficient. The world needs a new approach. We need to intelligently connect energy systems, buildings and industries, enhancing the way we live and work to significantly improve efficiency and sustainability. Through intelligent and connected infrastructure across the grid, we maximize the potential of the electrical energy for the world; managing increasingly distributed sources and complex grid infrastructures and transmitting and distributing energy more efficiently and reliably. This way we create an ecosystem that helps companies to thrive, communities to progress and supports sustainable development to protect our planet for the next generation.
What does Siemens see as the biggest threat to the smart energy industry?
At Siemens, we believe that as a part of the society we have the unique opportunity to protect not only the environment, but also our future. We have never had a better understanding of the strains that human activity puts on our planet as today. We have never faced what many scientists believe to be a point of no return at such a frightening speed as today.
Never in our history have we had as many choices of technologies at hand to tackle the challenges that we’re going to encounter on our many different paths toward a cleaner planet and a better living. The only obstacle standing in our way is ourselves. That is what we think could turn out to be the biggest threat. In short: Do we have to change? Yes! Can we change? Yes! Will we change? At Siemens, we certainly do!
What are the key topics Siemens will highlight at this year’s EUW & PGE?
Together with our customers and partners, we are driving the transition to sustainable, low-carbon, resource-efficient societies. Jointly we´ve created an ecosystem that intuitively responds to the needs of people, supports sustainable developments, helps our customers to capitalize on the multitude of opportunities and to better use resources.
This year at EUW we are showcasing how we are combining the strengths of Siemens in Electrification, Automation and Digitalization and enabling customized solutions for municipalities, transmission and distribution system operators, generation companies and large energy consumers.
In this way we are helping our clients to find their individual optimized mix of conventional and renewable energy sources with efficient generation, further electrification, intelligent power grids, adaptive storage systems, smart eMobility solutions, innovative resilience and agile demand and supply shaping.
Together we are making the world a more connected and caring place – that's why we can't wait to meet you in Paris!
